Certain leftists acting like you’re freaking out for no reason if you think Donald Trump will do everything he says he’ll do are no different from Trumpers accusing every anti-Trump person of having “Trump Derangement Syndrome” - ie, believing Trump will try and do everything he says he’ll do, and talking about it when he does it.
And if there’s anything that anyone who’s actually been paying attention knows, it’s that Trump will, in fact, do his damndest to do his worst. People aren’t freaking out for no reason. We fucking know this guy.
I’m not saying it’s a psyop.
But there has definitely been a weird influx lately of blogs with anime pfps and she/her/they/them in their bios who “just don’t get it. I just don’t get what the big deal is! What’s gotten everyone into a big tizzy about Trump? I keep asking but nobody can give me a straight answer! I don’t understand what’s wrong with Trump! Also Kamala is a cop, so I’m not voting”
The kind of denialism/feigned ignorance you’re describing is a tactic the far right has been using for years. I first saw it from Nazis, and lately, I’ve been seeing it among Trumpers more generally. If they aren’t bots, they 100% are far right trolls.
And I’m not sure where I’m being transphobic here, because sealioning you with stuff like “I don’t know what’s so bad about Donald Trump, nobody will give me an answer!!!!!11” is the kind of thing far right trolls do, and have done for for like… years now?
My guy, you are boosting someone who is implying she/theys shouldn’t be trusted. That’s textbook transphobia. Profiling someone based on their pronouns is transphobia.
Also, it is laughably anti-democracy to say only two parties should exist. Russian conspiracy theory has become your easiest scapegoat instead of facing with the fact that there’s a reason third party candidates exist and that the American two party system is an abject failure. I’m not going to argue this with you. It’s past your bedtime.
Edit:
Conspiratorial thinking: Russia must be behind people who are against voting, because it happened once, it must be happening all the time everywhere
Apocalyptic thinking: This Is the One Election that Matters Most Guys I Swear (pretend I didn’t say that last time)! If You Don’t Vote the Apocalypse Will Come!
This goes for traegorn too. Y'all are actively sabotaging actual democracy. The fucking caucacity of you clowns.
Yeah, the way I saw it, the issue wasn’t the pronouns in the bios - it was the sealioning rhetoric, which I have seen numerous times before, and always from a very certain type of people - far right people on the Internet. Pretending to be some innocent person who’s “just asking questions” is a thing they do. Again, the pronouns aren’t what I was focused on here - it’s the sealioning rhetoric. In fact, in that very response of mine, I was very deliberate in specifying “the kind of denialism/feigned ignorance you’re describing.” As in, that specific sealioning rhetoric is the hallmark of a far right troll.
And I don’t think it’s conspiratorial to think that Russia is likely trying to interfere again in some capacity, nor that Jill Stein’s presence doesn’t potentially serve their interests still, whether or not they are specifically funding her this time. The thing is, it’s already happened once, so we know what Jill Stein’s campaign means in the grand political scheme.
And there’s nothing apocalyptic about thinking that Trump will, in fact, try to do everything he said he’ll do. And that the supreme court, which is now tilted in his favor due to the judges he appointed, will do very little to block him. And that things will be even more fucked if Trump is allowed to appointed even more supreme court justices. Like these guys already took down Roe vs. Wade, and we know damn well they’re eyeing stuff like Obergefell vs. Hodges, and literally any legislation that stands in the way of what the Christofascists consider “freedom.” (Meanwhile, Harris can unfuck the court by appointing liberal-leaning judges, whose votes would keep this kind of stuff from getting overturned, and keep more Christofascist crap from getting passed.)
You are still utilizing transphobia as a tactic here. How does that help protect us trans people? Explain.
You specifically used the word funding, which is misleading and not true. You’d know this if you actually knew anything about elections or the American political system when words like “funding” hold a LOT of weight.
You’re trying to distract from the fact that you reblogged transphobia. Do not move the goalpost. You are giving airtime and support to transphobia no matter how incidental. Own up to it. You are hurting us.
I’ll admit to being wrong about the funding thing wrt: Jill Stein, and will issue a correction: Russia did not fund her, but they sure did put some effort into promoting her.
Regarding the supposed transphobia, what transphobia? This person merely described a certain type of account they started seeing pop up all of a sudden, and I recognized the sealioning tactics specifically used by far right trolls… who will also pretend to be any kind of person if they think it’ll give them an advantage. If any person on the Internet is out there using far right sealioning tactics, it’s pretty damn likely that they are, in fact, a far right sealion. Nobody who claims they just don’t understand why people are freaking out over Trump and says they’ve been asking all kinds of people to explain why but can’t get a straight answer is acting in good faith, because it’s an obvious lie, because most people who don’t like Trump are more than happy to provide reasons for it.
This feels either really disingenuous or a complete misunderstanding of that poster. The far right have often posed as minorities online to try to convince people to be more sympathetic to their cause. I didn’t get the impression that that person was saying you shouldn’t trust people who use she/they pronouns
“what if kids identify with something and it ends up just being a phase-?” good. stop teaching and expecting kids (and adults honestly) to formulate permanent traits and ideas of themselves. everything in life is a phase. that doesn’t make it any less legitimate while you experience it. let people explore themselves and know it’s okay if what you think about yourself changes.
